Our Story
Founded in 2006 as a grassroots initiative to bring quality secondary education closer to the children of Narok North, Olpusimoru Senior School opened its doors with a handful of students and two classrooms. Today, it stands as a thriving mixed day and boarding institution serving over 480 learners on an 8-acre campus at the gateway to the Maasai Mara.
Nestled in the rolling hills of Olenguruone, we proudly serve the Maasai community and learners from across the Rift Valley. We currently run the final two forms of the outgoing 8-4-4 curriculum (Form 3 & 4, KCSE) alongside the new Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework (Grades 10–12) — ensuring every cohort is fully supported through Kenya's historic curriculum transition. Our motto, Firm and Focused, is not merely a phrase; it is the daily standard we hold ourselves to.

Academic Programmes
Olpusimoru is a fully accredited CBE Senior School — Kenya's new competency-based curriculum is our primary focus. Learners choose one of three specialist pathways at Grade 10 and follow it through to Grade 12.
The STEM pathway equips Grade 10–12 learners with deep scientific and technical knowledge for Kenya's growing economy. Subjects span Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, and Applied Mathematics — preparing graduates for careers in medicine, engineering, architecture, and technology.

Olpusimoru continues to fully support its remaining Form 3 and Form 4 learners under the outgoing 8-4-4 curriculum, covering Sciences, Humanities, Mathematics, and Languages aligned to the KCSE syllabus. No new 8-4-4 admissions are accepted — these are the final cohorts as Kenya completes its transition to CBE.
Kenya's Curriculum Transition
Kenya is transitioning from 8-4-4 to Competency-Based Education (CBE) — the official rebranding of what was initially introduced as the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). Olpusimoru Senior School is fully equipped to serve learners under both systems simultaneously.

Sixteen fully equipped classrooms with natural lighting, proper ventilation, and structured seating — designed to minimise distraction and maximise focus. Each classroom is supported by a dedicated subject teacher and learning materials aligned to the CBE framework.
Our library is the intellectual heart of the school — a quiet, well-stocked space with curated fiction, reference texts, and digital research tools aligned to the CBE and KCSE syllabuses. Open before and after lessons for every learner.
A dedicated computer lab gives every learner hands-on access to digital tools. From basic computing in lower forms to applied software and research skills in the senior school, ICT is woven into daily learning.
Open playing fields, athletics tracks, and dedicated courts for football, volleyball, basketball, and athletics. Sports are part of every boarder's day — and the home of our championship-qualifying football team, the Olpusimoru Lions.
Secure dormitories with supervised prep sessions, a structured daily routine, and dedicated housemasters and housemistresses. Boarders eat together in our dining hall, study in supervised prep blocks, and rest in safe, monitored houses.

A Day in the Life
Every hour at Olpusimoru is intentional — here's how a typical day unfolds for our boarding students.
Boarders rise, attend to personal hygiene, and tidy their dormitories.
A hot, balanced meal served in the dining hall. Breakfast runs until 6:00 AM.
Supervised morning study session — revision, assignments, and reading. Runs until 7:45 AM.
First lesson block runs until 9:20 AM covering core curriculum subjects.
Short 20-minute break with light refreshments. Break ends at 9:40 AM.
Second lesson block continues until 11:00 AM.
A brief 10-minute break before the final morning session. Resumes at 11:10 AM.
Final morning lesson block runs until 12:30 PM.
Full lunch served in the dining hall. Learners have free time until 1:40 PM.
Afternoon lesson block runs until 2:20 PM.
A 10-minute break before the final afternoon period. Resumes at 2:30 PM.
Final lesson period of the day concludes at 3:10 PM.
Targeted support and catch-up sessions for learners who need extra guidance. Runs until 4:30 PM.
Football, athletics, volleyball, basketball, and other co-curricular activities. Runs until 5:30 PM.
Evening meal served in the dining hall. Supper runs until 6:20 PM.
Supervised silent study — homework, revision, and reading. Runs until 10:00 PM.
All boarders retire to dormitories. Housemaster/mistress conducts final bed check.
All boarders gather for the weekly Sunday morning devotion — a time of worship, reflection, and spiritual grounding before the week begins.

Admissions 2027
We welcome new CBE learners (Grade 10 entry via KJSEA). For 8-4-4, we only accept Form 3 transfer students — no new Form 1 or Form 2 intake as the system reaches its final phase. Applications for 2027 are open.
Note on 8-4-4: The 8-4-4 system is in its final phase — Olpusimoru now offers Form 3 & 4 only. We accept Form 3 transfers from other institutions. All new first-time secondary entrants join via the CBE route (Grade 10, KJSEA).

All outstanding Term 3 fees must be cleared by 20th September 2026. Learners with unpaid balances risk being sent home. Bursary applications should be submitted to the bursar's office before this date.
20 – 31 Oct 2026
Form 4 candidates will sit their final mock KCSE examinations from 20th to 31st October 2026. All candidates must report by 6:45 AM on each examination day. No late entry will be permitted.
27 – 31 Oct 2026
Grade 12 learners will sit their third and final Continuous Assessment Task (CAT 3) from 27th October. Results will contribute to the national Senior Secondary Assessment score. All pathway subjects are included.
7 Nov 2026
Parents, guardians, and guests are warmly invited to the Annual Prize Giving and Graduation Ceremony on 7th November 2026. Form 4 and Grade 12 finalists will be recognised. Dress code: Smart casual. Gates open at 9:00 AM.

The Olpusimoru Lions have qualified for the Narok County secondary schools football championship. All students are encouraged to attend and support the team. Travel arrangements for boarders will be communicated by the housemaster.
FAQ
CBE learners apply to Grade 10 (Senior School) using their KJSEA (Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment) results — the assessment sat at the end of Grade 9, which replaced KCPE for the new cohort. We review KJSEA grades, a recommendation from the Junior School, and hold a brief interview. Pathway selection (STEM, Social Sciences, or Arts & Sports) is confirmed at the time of admission.
Yes — for the final phase of 8-4-4. Olpusimoru currently accepts Form 3 transfer students only (no new Form 1 or Form 2 intake). Transfers are reviewed based on their KCPE results, school report, and an interview. These are the final 8-4-4 cohorts — the system formally closes once our current Form 4s complete KCSE in 2027.
Learners select one of three pathways — STEM, Social Sciences, or Arts & Sports — at the start of Grade 10, in consultation with their Junior School, our Director of Studies, and family. The chosen pathway runs through Grade 12 and is combined with four mandatory core subjects: English, Kiswahili or KSL, Mathematics, and Community Service Learning.
Learners sit the national Senior Secondary Assessment at the end of Grade 12, which has replaced KCSE for CBE cohorts. Continuous Assessment Tasks (CATs) throughout Grade 10–12 contribute to the final score, alongside the end-of-cycle assessment.
Yes. Our school bus serves the Olenguruone and wider Narok North routes daily, with scheduled pickup and drop-off times. Routes and timetables are shared at the start of every term.
